PWBA Event Format

PWBA Standard Events in 2017 will feature two six-game blocks of qualifying on the opening day with the field being cut to the top 32 players after 12 games.

The advancing 32 players will bowl a cashers’ round the following morning consisting of six additional games before the top 12 players advance to match play. The match-play finalists will be split into two groups, each featuring six players. One group will consist of the odd seeds (1-3-5-7-9-11) and the other will feature the even seeds (2-4-6-8-10-12). Each group will bowl six additional games of round-robin match play, including a final position round.

At the end of the match play, the top qualifier in each group will earn an automatic spot in the televised stepladder final (seeding will be determined by total pins). The second, third and fourth qualifiers in each group will advance to a group stepladder final to determine the final two spots in the stepladder final. The third and fourth qualifiers will compete in a one-game match, with the winner advancing to take on the second qualifier. The winners of each group stepladder final will bowl each other in the opening match of the stepladder final.

The televised stepladder finals will be taped during one of the four major championships throughout the season, and broadcast at a later date.
