ORLANDO, Fla. – Brooke Roberts of Port Orange, Florida, led qualifying at the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Orlando Regional on Sunday, contested at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Florida, and turned that performance into her second PWBA Regional Tour title. Roberts defeated Maranda Pattison of Redwood Valley, California, 234-201, in the title match and earned an automatic berth into the season-ending PWBA Regional Showdown.
Both right-handers had early opens in the title match. Pattison left a 5-7 split in the opening frame, and Roberts followed with a 2-8-10 a few frames later, keeping the match close. Roberts made an adjustment and it paid off with four straight strikes heading into the final frame.
Pattison’s ball hooked more than she would have liked in the fifth frame for a 3-6-10 combo. She converted it but needed to string strikes together to keep pace with Roberts and give herself a chance at a second title.
After a double, Pattison had a shot that looked good off her hand in the eighth frame, but it overhooked again, this time leaving a 4-6-7 split she couldn’t convert, sealing the win for Roberts. Roberts collected the trophy and $2,600 top prize with her parents looking on, while Pattison took home $1,300 for her runner-up finish.
The Florida native had a home-field advantage as she competed in several high school events at Boardwalk Bowl and knew some of the characteristics of the center heading into Sunday’s event.
“I kind of know how these lanes react, like how down there (on the low end) the right lane hooks more and then here the left lane hooks more,” said Roberts. “I just made sure that after I left the 2-8-10 to throw it a bit softer so it’ll get through and read a little bit more.”
She’ll now turn her attention to competing full-time this season on the PWBA National Tour, which begins April 29 in Rockford, Illinois, and chase the dream of winning a title there.
“I always wanted to compete on the National Tour coming out of college, but I knew that I didn’t really have the money for it and I really wanted to establish myself at a job and have that income coming in,” Roberts said, who has now worked as a veterinary technician for over a year. “Now I actually feel comfortable enough to actually go out there and see what I can do.”
In 2025, Roberts won the PWBA Albany Regional and dipped her toes on the national circuit, competing in two events and finishing sixth at the Regional Showdown. With another regional title under her belt, she’ll look to capitalize on her recent successes for 2026 while traveling with a number of other PWBA players to all the National Tour stops.
“I’m excited and ready to go,” said Roberts. “I really want to just hone in on experiencing (the National Tour) for the first time, taking that in and seeing what I can do.”
Roberts became the first person to clinch her spot in the PWBA Regional Showdown in December at nearby Airport Lanes, where the winner of that event will have all 2027 PWBA National Tour entry fees covered (excluding the Professional Bowlers Association/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer doubles event).
The stepladder began with Morgan Kramer of Webb, Alabama, facing off against Alyssa Ferraro of Deltona, Florida. Ferraro was making her second straight PWBA Regional finals after a runner-up finish at the 2025 Regional Showdown, while Kramer made her stepladder debut.
Kramer, a powerful two-handed bowler, was looking to become the first two-handed winner on the PWBA Tour at any level and started strong with a 221-184 win over Ferraro. Ferraro earned $700 for her fourth-place finish.
Kramer went up against Pattison in the semifinal match, but Pattison strung five in a row toward the end of the match and Kramer was unable to keep up. Pattison advanced with a 257 to Kramer’s 201. Kramer earned $900 for her third-place finish.
The PWBA Regional Tour continues March 28 with the PWBA Eastern Pennsylvania Regional in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which sold out within three hours of registration opening. For more information on the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional, click HERE.
