Cherie Tan claims High Average Award for 2024 PWBA season

ARLINGTON, Texas – Singapore’s Cherie Tan had the highest average for the 2024 Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour season, knocking down 61,333 pins over 281 games for an average of 218.27.

This is Tan’s second time having the highest average for a PWBA season. She previously averaged 220.06 in 2019.

The left-hander’s best stretch of the 2024 season came during the PWBA Classic Series – Nashville, where she averaged 233.32 over 74 games for the week on her way to top-three finishes at all three events, including her fifth career title at the BowlTV Classic.

Tan followed that up with a seventh-place finish the next week at the Southern Indiana Open, where she averaged 232.21.

“I believe the reason for my consistency is due to the practice and hard work put in throughout the entire year,” Tan said. “There’s really no offseason for us (Team Singapore), and we train all year round. This helps with my shot repetition, which I believe is one of the key factors for consistency in performance. Also, the support Team Singapore had from the Storm reps was instrumental for my performance this season.”

Tan was also in contention for Player of the Year this season, finishing second in points behind Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane. Tan cashed in all 11 events during the 2024 season and recorded four stepladder appearances and seven match-play appearances.

While Tan is unsure if she will be competing at all of the 2025 PWBA National Tour stops, the preparation wouldn’t change at all if she and other Team Singapore members come out.

“In terms of preparation, it would definitely be the same as every year,” Tan said. “The PWBA Tour remains one of the most competitive platforms for us to compete in. To be able to perform for the entire season would require adaptability to different lane conditions and great bowling, so I’m hoping to better this year’s performance.”

Membership for the 2025 PWBA season opens in January, with the first event in May in Topeka, Kansas. For the complete 2025 PWBA schedule, click here.
