LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, N.Y. rolled a big 277 in the title match at the South Point Bowling Plaza to take home a victory in the South Point PBA West Challenge.
The tournament was a PBA Regional event and featured a number of top PBA and International players, including both men and women. The win qualifies McEwan for the PBA Tournament of Champions, which will be contested in early February, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
“Every time you win it’s pretty awesome, but against the guys? That’s pretty cool,” the recent Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship winner said.
McEwan becomes just the ninth woman to win a PBA tournament, joining fellow PWBA members Kelly Kulick, Liz Johnson, Missy Parkin, Jodi Woessner, Shannon O'Keefe, Clara Guerrero and Diana Zavjalova, who recently took home a win in the PBA Kokomo Central/Midwest Classic just three weeks ago to also become eligible for the PBA Tournament of Champions.
Both McEwan and Zavjalova will look to duplicate Kelly Kulick's historic feat when she won the PBA Tournament of Champions back in 2010, becoming the first woman ever to capture a major title on the PBA Tour.
