U.S. Women's Open set to start in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – The second Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour major of the 2024 season is set to start on June 11 at Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis with the U.S. Women’s Open. This is the first time that Royal Pin Woodland will host a PWBA event since the tour’s relaunch in 2015, adding to its ongoing history of hosting prestigious bowling tournaments.

108 of the world’s best women bowlers will compete for the top prize of $60,000, along with wearing the coveted green jacket and the iconic eagle trophy. Bryanna Coté of Tucson, Arizona, is the defending champion. She defeated Clara Guerrero of Colombia in the title match, 153-142, last year in New York.

The week starts with an eight-game pre-tournament qualifier at 11 a.m. Eastern to fill the remainder of the tournament proper on Tuesday June 11, before the Bowl with the Pros later that night at 7 p.m. Bowl with the Pros gives the local community an opportunity to bowl alongside their favorite PWBA Tour bowlers in a fun and exciting environment.

Wednesday June 12 will be all about practice for the competitors, as all four patterns that will be used for the week laid out throughout the day starting at 9 a.m. Patterns one through three will be for the first three qualifying rounds, while pattern four will be used in the fourth qualifying round, match play and the TV show.

Thursday June 13 through Saturday June 15 will be qualifying rounds, each day starting at 8 a.m. for eight games each round for all three squads that bowl. 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. are the start times for the other two squads of each day, and all squads will bowl eight games.

After the third qualifying round, a cut will be made to the top third of the field, who will return Sunday June 16 for the fourth and final qualifying round at 10 a.m., again being eight games.

The top 24 after qualifying will begin the first of three rounds of round-robin match play later at 5 p.m. The final two rounds will be Monday June 17 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the top five after match play will bowl in the live TV stepladder finals show Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m., only on CBS Sports Network.

The No. 4 and No. 5 seeds will begin the stepladder and each match will be one game head-to-head, with the winner moving up until the title match against the No. 1 seed.

All rounds of qualifying and match play leading up to the TV finals will be streamed live on BowlTV.
