PWBA and PBA Tours collide for annual Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles event
HOUSTON – The best of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association and Professional Bowlers Association will come together once again for the PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles event at Copperfield Bowl in Houston beginning Thursday.
The sold-out field of 160 teams will begin with practice sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eastern before the Beauties vs. Beasts event. The exhibition features the top five players from each division based on the 2025 qualifying standings in a five-game Baker-format sprint for a share of the $4,000 prize fund.
The Beauties will feature Erin McCarthy of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Jordan Snodgrass of Adrian, Michigan; Josie Barnes of Hermitage, Tennessee; Latvia’s Diana Zavjalova; and Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane while the Beasts will include Keven Williams of Roseville, California; Alec Keplinger of Quincy, Michigan; Justin Knowles of Okemos, Michigan; Deo Benard of Roanoke, Texas; and Shawn Maldonado of Houston. The pairings will be McCarthy/Williams; Snodgrass/Keplinger; Barnes/Knowles; Zavjalova/Benard; and Sin/Maldonado.
Tournament competition starts Friday with A Squad qualifying at 9 a.m. Eastern before B Squad takes the lanes at 3 p.m. Eastern. Qualifying continues Saturday with C Squad at 9 a.m. Eastern and D Squad at 3 p.m. Eastern.
Each doubles team will bowl seven games, and the top quarter of the field will move on to the semifinals on Sunday at 9 a.m. Eastern. There, each duo will bowl another four games before the field is trimmed to the top 12 teams for round-robin match play.
Match play is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, with a short break after six games before starting back up for the final six games at 4:30 p.m. Eastern to determine who wins the champions.
